Passport validity checker

Many countries require your passport to be valid for a period beyond your planned departure — often six months, sometimes three, sometimes just for the length of your stay. Enter your dates to see where you stand. This checks dates only; it can't tell you which rule your destination applies to your nationality.

This tool only compares dates. Some countries also require blank visa pages or count validity from arrival rather than departure. Confirm the exact rule for your nationality with the destination's official immigration website or embassy.

If your passport falls short

  1. Renew early. Processing times vary by country and season — check your passport office's current estimate.
  2. Check blank pages. Some countries require one or two completely blank pages for stamps or visas.
  3. Don't rely on airlines to catch it. Airlines may deny boarding if your passport doesn't meet the rules, and you could be refused entry at the border.

The IATA Travel Centre summarises document requirements by nationality, but the destination government's own website has the final word. More: Passport validity rules explained.
